THEATER
Though he is widely known for his electronic music, Gershon Kingsley's career really began with orchestrating and conducting for theater. Beginning with summer stock in Sacramento (California) in 1954, Kingsley worked his way to conducting Off-Broadway and Broadway performances in New York. In time, Kingsley began to compose his own musicals, including two separate works about Christopher Columbus' expedition to America (Tierra! and Cristobal) and VOICES FROM THE SHADOW, a musical theater show centered around poetry by Holocaust prisoners. There are some audio clips at bottom of this page.
